Just look at A. Lange & Söhne, Junghans and Nomos for examples that German watchmaking is stronger than ever. The latter now presents a new iteration of their successful Metro: the Nomos Glashuette Metro Neomatik 39 Silvercut.
A bit bigger in diameter – 38.5 millimeters – but they still manage to keep the silhouette and height very slim with a height of just 8.35 millimeters. The Nomos DUW 3001 caliber being only 3.2 millimeters.
The DUW 3001 has decentralized seconds, a stop-seconds mechanism and a power-reserve of 42 hours. Ultra-thin with 3.2 millimeters and 28.8 millimeters in diameter with Nomos’s proprietary swing system. This is the name Nomos gave to their in-house lever, balance and balance spring. A good movement, that would also feel at home in a watch twice the price of the Nomos Glashuette Metro Neomatik 39 Silvercut.
The dial is the most special part of the Nomos Glashuette Metro Neomatik 39 Silvercut
Also new for the Metro is the silvercut dial. The secret to its particular shade of cool gray is a nine-step process. The gold- and rhodium-plated blank dial is lacquered and wet blasted numerous times, before the thousandth of a millimeter is removed again and the dial is trimmed flat. The Metro’s dial also features some color in the form of red dots for hour markers.
The new Metro is part of the At Work series, four existing watch models in a larger size and three colors, with the DUW 3001 movement inside. The other three models are the Tangente, Orion and Tetra. The Nomos Glashuette Metro Neomatik 39 Silvercut comes on a black cordovan strap.
