The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 42 mm America’s Cup celebrates the brand’s timekeeping role at the 37th America’s Cup. Which is about sailing, and officially named the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup. Five events between 22nd August and 27th October 2024, taking place in Barcelona, Spain.
And yes, Omega is very active in sponsoring events as official timekeeper, we just had the Olympic Games. During which they released no less than four new models, like this Omega Specialties Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition. However, the Seamaster Diver 300M is a better fit with nautical racing sports. A cool topic anyway, the reason why other brands also sponsor sailing teams.
Nautical race watches need regatta timing
Omega is not only the official timekeeper, but they also sponsor the Emirates Team New Zealand. Check this very serious Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Chronograph 45.5 MM ETNZ Deep Black. Paneria also sponsors a team, look at this Panerai Submersible Luna Rossa. And what about the Tudor Pelagos FXD Chrono Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition? Brands like TAG Heuer and Ulysse Nardin also sponsor or sponsored teams. But let’s go back to the new Seamaster.
It’s a proven concept and design, so nothing new here. 42 millimeters stainless steel, helium valve at 10 o’clock, easy to read. New is the nice white ceramic matt-finish dial with laser-engraved waves. The central seconds hand has an America’s Cup trophy as a counterweight. And there is a regatta 5-minute scale on the ceramic rotating bezel to provide a more visual countdown timer as it has no chronograph.
The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 42 mm America’s Cup has a power reserve of 55 hours
The movement of the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 42 mm America’s Cup is the Omega caliber 8806. An automatic based on the Omega caliber 8800, with a co-axial escapement and resistant to magnetic fields (up to 15,000 gauss). Furthermore, it has a free sprung-balance with silicon balance spring, a rhodium-plated rotor and bridges with Côtes de Genève motif. The power reserve is 55 hours.
This diver comes on a blue rubber strap with stainless steel fold-over clasp or a stainless steel bracelet. Which has a stainless steel fold-over clasp with comfort setting and diver extension. The price for the bracelet version is approximately 400 higher. The case back is sapphire and has the “Auld Mug” (the cup one can win) and the “B” (for Barcelona) printed on it.
