This Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue is the first watch by Omega with a blue ceramic case. And a blue ceramic bezel. And a blue ceramic dial. This diver has a serious size (45.5 millimeters) and can go under water up to 600 meters / 2,000 feet. Because of that it might have become a little heavy. But using ceramic saves weight, the reason why this Big Blue isn’t heavy at all.

To remind you the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue is from ceramic, just below the center posts for the hands the chemical symbol for zirconium dioxide is printed. ZrO2. Which is the type of ceramic from which the case and dial are constructed. The hands and indexes are from 18k white gold, coated with super-luminova. The hour track for the second time zone, the GMT hand, the numerals and the first 15 minutes of the bezel indication are orange. A bright and nice contrast with the deep blue ceramic parts and white hands.

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue can withstand magnetic forces up to 15,000 Gauss

On the other side of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Blue is a wave-edged screw-in case back with Omega’s patented ceramic Naiad Lock. This keeps the engraved wording pleasingly in position. The matching blue rubber strap has orange stitching and even the folding clasp is from ceramic.

The sapphire at the back shows Omega’s caliber 8906, which is an Omega caliber 8900 with GTM. It is able to withstand magnetic forces of up to 15,000 Gauss and offers a power reserve of 60 hours. By the way, the official name of this time piece: Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial Master Chronometer GMT Big Blue. Just call it Big Blue.
