In addition to the ProPilote X series by Oris, the Swiss brand launches a very, very green watch called the Oris ProPilot X Kermit Edition. And yes, it’s green because Oris made a deal with Disney to put Kermit the Frog from the Muppets on the dial. Well, it’s not on but behind the dial.

The Kermit Edition is just a funny presentation of something serious: watchmaking. The question is: would a grown-up wear something like this? Anyway, it has this green dial with domed sapphire, and it measures 39 millimeters. Which is just too big for little kids, the ones you would expect to wear a watch like this.

However, it has a titanium case, an automatic movement and a price which is not for kids. The movement is the Oris caliber 400, a great workhorse with a great power reserve of five days. And the watch has a 10-year warranty. And this all makes it a very serious watch.

Luckily, if you want a ProPilot X in a more adult-like color, there are also models with a grey, blue or salmon dial. All with titanium case, transparent case back and titanium bracelet, and all just a little bit less expensive. About 200-300 euro’s or dollars. But how about Kermit?

Well, Kermit shows up in the date window only once a month, on the first day of the month. Oris calls this Kermit Day but you as a grown-up person might think: the other 27 to 30 days I just have a bright green automatic that’s doing its job perfectly fine. And don’t tell people you have the Kermit, because they might think you wear another brand…
