Technically speaking this Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Acciaio is more or less the same watch as the Panerai Luminor 1950 Oracle Team. But this time around it is in honor of the 13th edition of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge (PCYC). A big name in the international circuit for classic and vintage sailing yachts.

The main feature of the Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Acciaio is the chronograph flyback function. Therefor Panerai uses the manufacture P.9100 automatic caliber. The push-piece at 8 o’clock instantly zeroes the chronograph hands and immediately restarts them. Without it first being necessary to stop them and return them to zero by pressing on the stop and reset button at 10 o’clock.

The Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Acciaio comes with a black or ivory dial

To keep the readability of the dial and its functions as clear as possible, the seconds hand and chronograph minute hand have different colors. And both are positioned centrally.

Another element, which expresses the link with the sea, is the additional tachymeter scale in knots printed on the flange. This enables to measure the average speed of the yacht over a particular distance (one nautical mile). It can be measured by the chronograph minute hand.

The Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Acciaio is available with either a black or an ivory dial. The black dial comes with Roman numerals, the white dial with dots and markers for the hours. Both models come on a vintage looking calf leather strap and in stainless steel. So, all in all a bit more retro than the high-tech black ceramic of the Panerai Luminor 1950 Oracle Team.
