This Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Titanio is the third watch Panerai introduces in honor of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge. The first two are the Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC with an ivory and black dial.

The Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Titanio is a flyback chronograph. Just like the two previous PCYC watches. Albeit a bit larger with a diameter of 47 millimeters and a titanium case, instead of stainless steel and 44 millimeters. And this model has an extra function.

The Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Titanio has the caliber P.9100 with an additional module

The engineers at the manufacture in Neuchatel made a true regatta watch with a countdown timer, powered by the calibre P.9100/R. Which also powers the Panerai Luminor 1950 Regatta Oracle Team USA 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic. Essentially, the P.9100/R is the same movement as in the other two PCYC watches, but with an added module for the countdown function.

That countdown is used in the last 15 minutes for each yacht to position themselves in the best place for the start. Of course every chronograph can time 15 minutes, but the plus of a countdown (regatta) timer is that after the countdown, the regular timing begins.

Tachymeter scale in knots

All this can be seen on the black dial. One with a clear design with large, easy to read markers. As well as the scale of 15 minutes for the countdown, the flange is also marked with the tachymeter scale in knots. Great to calculate the average speed of a yacht over a particular distance (one nautical mile) to be measured by the chronograph minute hand.

The Panerai Luminor 1950 PCYC Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Titanio comes on a natural leather strap with a titanium clasp.
