The Panerai Luminor Quaranta BiTempo Goldtech is Italian for a 40-millimeter (Quaranta) GMT (BiTempo) from a special gold (Goldtech). Goldtech is developed by Panerai, like more brands have created their own metal by mixing some stuff and then patent and name it. Here it is a mix of gold with platinum and copper for a deeper red color and more shine.

The case looks classy due to the Goldtech, and the sun-brushed black sandwich dial shows the traditional Panerai Luminor setup. Small seconds at the 9 o’clock position and a date at 3. A clear 12-hour GMT hand with a blue luminescent arrow-shaped tip shows the hours in a second time zone. And as a proper diver, it has a large crown protection system, althought you don’t want to dive with a gold watch on leather.

The Panerai Luminor Quaranta BiTempo Goldtech has a power reserve of 72 hours

Inside is a variant of the P.900 caliber, the Panerai caliber P.900/GMT. Now one millimeter thicker due to the GMT complication (from 4.2 to 5.2 millimeters) and obviously with some more parts (from 171 to 186). With just one barrel it is able to produce a sufficient 70 hours of power reserve. It also has an Incabloc anti-shock device and can be admired through the Goldtech with sapphire case back.

The Panerai Luminor Quaranta BiTempo Goldtech is fastened with a black alligator strap with quick release system. The buckle is from brushed Goldtech and has a trapezoidal shape.
