At the 2017 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Panerai launched six new Luminor Submersible 1950-models. With this launch Panerai also seems to complete its move to in-house movements. As expected the new Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanio houses a P.9010 manufacture movement. Due to the smaller size of the movement the case is ten percent less thick than the previous model.
In addition to the bronze models – a material which seems to be to new go-to move for a lot of brands – the titanium case with matte black ceramic bezel attracted the most attention. This reference PAM01389 is also a bit of a facelift of the 2012 model with reference PAM00389, but a minor one. The blue second hand and the solid titanium case back are the biggest changes.
The Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanio withstands extreme magnetic fields
Looking at the other (older) Luminor Submersible releases the new Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanio offers a lot more magnetic protection, hence the name. The watch is produced to international standards and is designed to withstand a magnetic flux of up to 40.000 A/m. The Panerai achieves this thanks to an inner case of soft iron. This insulates the movement and acts like a Faraday cage which deflects the flux of magnetic fields. Probably you will only need this if you regularly work with an MRI machine or at the CERN Institute in Switzerland.
If you want this model with a more special case material take a look at this Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 BMG-TECH 3 Days Automatic.
