The full Panerai signature design packed in a carbon fiber-based black case; this is the Panerai Submersible Tourbillon GMT Luna Rossa Experience Edition. It’s from Carbotech, a composite material consisting of thin sheets of carbon fiber compressed together with a special polymer at a controlled temperature. With this technique unique cases can be created, with dense, uneven, black patterns that randomly arise during the making.

This watch is part of a series of Luna Rossa models, referring to the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team. We are talking boat racing here, and next to Italian companies like Prada and Pirelli, Paneria is one of their sponsors. And you could say that this Tourbillon GMT is the pinnacle of the series.

Open-worked dial with a raster

The Submersible Tourbillon GMT is a diver, given the waterproofness of about 300 meters / 1,000 feet. It has an anti-clockwise rotating bezel, Panerai’s renewed crown protector and lots of luminescent material in order to read the basic functions under water. The tourbillon sits between the 10 and 11 o’clock position and can be admired from the front and back.

On the left of the open-worked dial, also attached to a raster on the background, there is a sub dial with small seconds. And on the right a sub dial with a graduated day/night indicator. Plus, a large GMT hand with an orange triangle-shaped tip. Above the 6 o’clock position you can see one of the barrels with its spring. And at the back there is a power reserve indicator.

All the mechanics are driven by the hand-wound Panerai caliber P.2015/T with a Glucydur balance and Incabloc anti-shock device. The movement has a power reserve of 4 days or 96 hours.
