Reference: 5711/1A-018 – limited to 170 pieces
The Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-018 Tiffany & Co. celebrates a very long partnership between the two brands. The alliance between Patek Philippe and their U.S. “sales outlet” Tiffany & Co. is already 170 years old. Which is why this special edition is limited to 170 pieces.
This 5711 not only bears the renewed Tiffany colors but also has both company names stamped on the dial. “Tiffany & Co.” at 6 o’clock and Patek Philippe at 12 o’clock. Patek also states that they will retire the Ref. 5711, on the market since 2006, in 2022.
What is the origin of Tiffany Blue?
The turquoise color associated with Tiffany & Co. is nowadays known as “Tiffany Blue.” This specific shade, often described as robin’s-egg blue, has been a hallmark of the brand since 1845. As in that year the color was found in the catalogue.
In 1998, Tiffany & Co. trademarked this unique color, and in 2001, it was standardized by Pantone as “1837 Blue”. Named after the company’s founding year. The exact hue is a custom color created exclusively for Tiffany and is not publicly available. Which is kind of odd of course.
The dial of this 40-millimeter stainless steel Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-018 has the typical Nautilus design, with horizontal embossing. For this model, the hour markers and hands are blackened forming a nice contrast with the turquoise dial.
The Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-018 Tiffany & Co. has a power reserve of 35 to 45 hours
The movement of the Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-018 Tiffany & Co. is the automatic Patek Philippe caliber 26-330 S C. Popular in more Patek models, sporting central seconds and a date, with a power reserve of about 35 to 45 hours.
The steel and sapphire case back has the commemorative inscription “170th Anniversary 1851-2021 Tiffany & Co. – Patek Philippe“.
Pricing of the Tiffany Nautilus: 169 for sale, one for auction
All 170 units will be available exclusively in the Tiffany boutiques in New York, Beverly Hills, and San Francisco that carry Patek Philippe. And it retails for a little over 50k.
Tiffany & Co. will auction off one of the commemorative watches with Phillips Auctions. In Association with Bacs & Russo on the 11th of December 2021, it will be hammered and 100% of the proceeds will benefit The Nature Conservancy, a global environmental organization.
Edit: the one-off Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref. 5711/1A-018 Tiffany & Co. was sold at auction for 6,503,500 US dollars. For which the watch is listed as one of the most expensive watches in the world.
