The launch of the Perrelet Turbine Mexico Limited Edition took place at the SIAR Summer Experience 2024. This invitation-only event in Mexico City’s Four Seasons Hotel brings brands, retailers, collectors, and VIP clients together to the Salón Internacional Alta Relojería, to discuss, show and sell watches. Perrelet takes this occasion to release the “¡Viva México, cabrones!” Turbine model.
This sentence, meaning “Long live Mexico, bastards!”, are said to be the last words of Pancho Villa. He was a Mexican revolutionary, assassinated on the 20th of July 1923 and these last words are also connected to Mexico’s Independence Day on the 15th of September. The words are meant to encourage to fight for the homeland and freedom.
Mexican tricolore on the dial
To express the connection between this Turbine and Mexico the three colors of the Mexican flag can be found on the dial. The watch sports a turbine-like open-worked dial and the openings next to each blade of the turbine reveal a part of the disc behind it. The disc is not only executed in green, white and red, but also bears the aforementioned adage and Mexico’s coat of arms.
The turbine on the dial spins with every movement you make, showing you an ever changing decor of what lays behind. And if you spin it hard enough the full picture on the disc will be revealed. The green, white and red form a clear contrast with the black DLC titanium case and black anodized aluminum turbine dial.
The Perrelet Turbine Mexico Limited Edition has a power reserve of 42 hours
Inside is the COSC certified automatic Perrelet caliber P-331-MH with a power reserve of 42 hours. This movement was developed by Soprod, part of the Festina Group who also owns Perrelet. Apart from the COSC certificate the movement also has a Chronofiable certification. Which is a guarantee of reliability provided by Laboratoire Dubois. The oscillating weight on ball bearings is open-worked, rhodium-plated, and has the Perrelet logo.
The Perrelet Turbine Mexico Limited Edition comes on a green rubber strap with black DLC grade 2 titanium pin buckle. The watch is limited to 50 pieces.
