To celebrate its 150th year, the Piaget Polo 79 is back. Revealed in 1979, it is a type of watch that became a classic in the 1980s. According to the brand itself. What it was and what it is: a refined dress watch with an all-gold motif. Piaget’s goal with the Polo watches is creating elegance with a blend of sport and sophisticated aesthetics.
After 45 years, the watch is still made of pure gold, now measuring 38 millimeters, and boasting a thickness of 7.45 millimeters. Which is a bit thicker than the original version. From its case and dial, down to its bracelet, the entire timepiece is crafted in gold. It features a pattern formed by alternating sections of polished gadroon and brushed block links. Which provides a minimalist design, where only the gold hands, gold hour marker dots, and minute track stand out.
The Piaget Polo 79 has a power reserve of 44 hours
While the first Polo has a (thin) quartz movement, this newest uses an automatic Piaget caliber 1200P1. Also a thin movement, showcased through its sapphire case back. It provides a power reserve of 44 hours.
The Piaget Polo 79 comes on a yellow gold bracelet, which is brushed and polished. And it is secured with a triple-blade folding clasp, also in yellow gold.
