The Richard Mille RM 74-02 Automatic Winding Tourbillon is a combination of gold and carbon, with a bit of titanium. This is why the model is still light and also very valuable. And as it is fully open-worked, it shows all its techniques.

The techniques of the RM 74-02 are in the automatic winding tourbillon caliber CRMT5. It has a free-sprung balance with variable inertia to improve its shock resistance. Four adjustable weights on the balance could leave out a regulator as the weights can be calibrated when needed. The 18K gold rotor has variable geometry, with a heavy weight on the edge and a weight segment in platinum.

The Richard Mille RM 74-02 Automatic Winding Tourbillon has a power reserve of 50 hours

Gold can also be found on the baseplate and bridges. These are machined from 18K 5N red gold and 18K 3N yellow gold respectively, after which the get microblasted and bevelled by hand. The case of the model is from gold carbon TPT, as RM calls it. Simply explained it is a process of building ultra-thin layers of carbon fused with 24K yellow gold. The case band is made from 18K 5N red gold. 20 grade 5 titanium spline screws and abrasion resistant washers in 316 L stainless steel are used to assemble the case.
