After RD’s partnership with Pirelli (here and here, with straps made out of F1-tyres) Roger Dubuis presents a new partnership with the iconic sportscar manufacturer Lamborghini. Resulting in a watch called the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S.

Pirelli was a nice ‘appetizer’ as Roger Dubuis CEO Jean-Marc Pontroué called it. The Lamborghini collaboration is the ‘main course’ with the Excalibur Aventador S as a first example. Of course, named after Lamborghini’s most extravagant road model, the Aventador. And not the ordinary model with only 700 HP doing 354 km/h /220 mph at top speed. No, it is the S with 740 HP that will do 350 km/h / 217 mph according to Lambo’s specs. Which is slower indeed. Nevertheless, any car lover wants one. And if you have one you probably want this watch too.

The Excalibur Aventador S is available in two variations through an 88- and 8-piece limited edition. The first bears the Lamborghini “Giallo Orion” yellow paint code picked up in a number of design features. The second and even more exclusive series comes in orange “Arancio Argos”.

The price of one of these Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S models comes pretty close to a new (small) Lamborghini

The orange one is more exclusive because of the use of Lamborghini’s award-winning carbon composite known as C-SMC carbon. This is used to create a thin cover plate over the movement. Functional? Not really, but it looks really nice. Just like any Lambo.

Both 45-millimeter cases are executed in carbon fiber. The same material Lamborghini uses for their chassis. They even have their own facility for manufacturing the lightweight material. This makes for a very lightweight case, even more so with the entire watch when you consider the skeletonized case band and lugs.

Also worth noting are the 90 degrees double sprung balances, which are linked with a differential. The Roger Dubuis RD103SQ movement thus works at a 2 x 4 Hz frequency, giving it a better resistance to gravity effects. And therefore, a higher precision.

The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Aventador S comes on a bi-material strap with a black rubber base. Depending on the model with either yellow or orange stitching.
