This isn’t usually the watch that springs to mind when you think of a Rolex. A shame, because the Sky-Dweller is a winning combination of a complicated movement and original looks. The Rolex Sky-Dweller 2017 is available at a more affordable price point.

The Rolex Sky-Dweller 2017 is a so called Rolesor model, which means it is made from gold and steel. A combination of metals Rolex already made in the 1930s. The new one comes in two version. One version with a steel case, white gold bezel and blue, white or dark grey dial (reference 326934). The other one with a steel case, yellow gold bezel, yellow gold crown, and yellow gold center bracelet links (reference 326933). This one is available with a white, gold or dark grey dial.

The price of the Rolex Sky-Dweller Rolesor is significantly lower than its precedesors

We see some subtle tweaks with more rectangular indexes and longer hands in the 42-millimeter case. In addition to the new materials these are the only real changes for the 2017 model. The Rolex caliber 9001 inside, launched with the first Sky-Dweller in 2012, hasn’t changed.

The functionality is unchanged either. The Rolex Sky-Dweller Rolesor has a dual time zone with local time via the regular hands and a second time zone presented through the center disc. The annual calendar shifts automatically between 30- and 31-day months and has a handy way to set the function via the rotatable Ring Command Bezel.

Perhaps this is not the most well know Rolex, but a modern classic nonetheless. And with these new tweaks it is firmly established in the Rolex lineage. The video below the specs shows more of the Rolex Sky-Dweller 2017.
