When you just thought you have seen it all, Romain Jerome presents a bizarre collaboration with Pokémon. This is the Romain Jerome Tourbillon Pokémon.

What do you expect from the guys who also had a Pokémon limited edition in 2016? At least they make good use of their partnership with The Pokémon Company International.

Romain Jerome calls the Pokémon Tourbillon ‘the perfect alchemy between a prestigious horological complication and the emblem of the millennial. A perfect example of the brand’s avant-garde position.’ Avant-garde or horrendous, you be the judge, but one thing is certain. It’s a unique piece, there will always be a buyer for it. Maybe he or she is a bit infantile, or he or she just likes Pokémon, who knows.

The longer you think about the Romain Jerome Tourbillon Pokémon, the stranger it gets

The watch has an all black PVD coated steel case. The black alligator strap is enhanced with yellow and blue stitching as a tribute to the Pokémon logo colors. The unique piece has a wildly colorful dial with Pokémon characters, hand filled with enamel. To be honest, it looks impressive. So is the work to create it.

The dial requires hundreds of hours to get every character perfect. This concentration of characters in different sizes yields a 3D effect, in a way that the characters look animated and are ready to pop out any moment.

As the most famous of them all, Pikachu is the centerpiece and placed at the forefront. If you look at the back of the watch you will not only see the movement but also the back of Pikachu. He (or is it a she?) forms the oscillating weight, with a lightning bolt. To complete the Pokémon scene, the tourbillon bridge is also shaped like a lightning bolt, one of the key elements of Pikachu.

We’re not sure if we would spend a six-figure number on a ‘kids’ watch, but compliments to Romain Jerome for presenting this without one single sliver of irony.
