The Seiko 5 Sports HUF Limited Edition SRPL33 brings together the worlds of watchmaking and street culture. Designed in collaboration with HUF, a lifestyle brand founded by professional skateboarder Keith Hufnagel, this timepiece bridges Seiko’s horological expertise with HUF’s distinctive skateboarding-inspired aesthetic. Limited to 7,000 pieces, this model serves as a tribute to creativity, durability, and innovation.
Seiko introduced the 5 Sports line in the late 1960s to provide reliable and accessible timepieces for active individuals. Known for durability, style, and affordability, these watches set a benchmark in affordable sports watches. The “5” symbolized five core attributes: automatic movement, day-date display, water resistance, recessed crown, and robust case and bracelet. A bit farsighted for a name, but easy to remember. And way better than naming a watch after a dishwasher.
About HUF
The brand HUF, founded in 2002 in San Francisco, embodies skateboarding and street culture. The collaboration celebrates this legacy by infusing the iconic Seiko 5 Sports design with bold visual elements inspired by HUF’s aesthetic.
First, the green HUF logo is on the dial and case back. They also added a regatta timer – you can use the rotating bezel to “activate” it. The lime green HUF color also comes back on the central second hand and a part of the flange of the dial. Furthermore, the see-through case back is green as well.
More Specs the HUF Limited Edition
The HUF Limited Edition boasts a stainless steel case measuring 42.5 millimeters in diameter, 13.4 millimeters in thickness, and 46.0 millimeters lug-to-lug. The case is paired with a curved hardlex crystal, ensuring durability and clarity, but it is not as hard as sapphire. Its vibrant color scheme is directly inspired by HUF, with accents that capture “the spirit of street culture”. We think they mean it’s colorful.
The dial includes lumibrite on the hands, indices, and the top dot on the bezel, ensuring readability in low light. Its unidirectional rotating bezel with a red and white scale also adds both functionality and style. This watch also features a day and date display, and the crown has the HUF logo as well.

Seiko’s Caliber 4R36 Inside
Powering the Seiko 5 Sports HUF Limited Edition is Seiko’s automatic caliber 4R36. This movement offers a 41-hour power reserve and belongs to Seiko’s long-standing family of reliable automatic calibers.
First introduced in 2011, it evolved from the earlier 7S26, adding hacking seconds and hand-winding functionality. The exhibition case back reveals the movement, finished in a signature “HUF green”, which reflects the collaborative spirit of this limited edition. The watch is equipped with a stainless steel bracelet, with a three-fold clasp.
Japan Domestic Model
This HUF Limited Edition is available for the global market with reference SRPL33. However, there is also a Japan Domestic Model (JDM version) with reference SBSA279. It carries an additional imprint at 6 o’clock on the dial as well as on the case back, with “Made in Japan”.
This JDM version also carries the date display in both English and Japanese (Kanji) day wheels. You can switch this with the crown. Thus, in English, it reads MON, TUE, WED, THU, FRI, SAT, SUN. And in Japanese you will read 月、火、水、木、金、土、日. Pricing of both International and JDM models are similar.
Pricing of the Seiko 5 Sports HUF Limited Edition
The pricing of the Seiko 5 Sports HUF Limited Edition SRPL33 is in the 400 range. 380 in dollars, 400 in euros, 350 in British pounds. For that amount, you will get a very cool, sporty-styled automatic.
Of course, sapphire crystal is to be preferred above the hardlex crystal of this model, but the price is in line with this little loss in quality. It’s still hard, scratch and shatter resistant but just not as good as sapphire. Should that hold you back from buying one? At this price, we don’t think so.
