The new Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SSC947 is a colorful addition to the Prospex Speedtimer lineup of quartz chronographs that are powered by light. In the same style there are the ref. SSC913 with a Pepsi-like bezel and black with blue dial, and the SSC915 with Coke-like bezel and full black dial. And there is more than a handful variants with less striking colors.

This SSC947 joins this party with a red-blue Pepsi bezel and a bright yellow sunburst dial. This combined with a black minute and 1/5^th of a seconds chronograph seconds hands. The three sub dials are executed in a dark blue shade with small seconds at 9, a 24-hour hand at 3 and a 60-minutes totalizer at 6. The latter also functions as a power reserve indicator. At the 4.30 position is a small date window.

Its solar charging quartz movement is the Seiko caliber V192, which runs for 6 months when its fully loaded. It takes up to 40 minutes when you are walking in the sun, or about 3 days when you leave it in the house.
