The Speake Marin Ripples Skeleton is the first Ripples model without ripples as they have been eliminated by the skeletonized dial. And not only the dial is skeletonized, also the new high-beating movement is constructed in such a way that you can look through it.
The downside of fully skeletonized watches is that your own (hairy) wrist is going to be the background of your timepiece. But if you can live with that, you’ll get the stunning view on the movement in return. The square case with round inner part that forms the dial measures 40.3 millimeters, executed in the luxury 904L stainless steel.
There are some ripples
Okay, not all ripples are gone as the sub dial for the small seconds, a 0.3-millimeter thick plate, has some very slim lines. And applied diamond polished indices with opaline flanks that are almost thinner than hair. The plate itself has black PVD treatment.
The rather prominent hands, also due to their bright blue color, really stand out. They are hand-flamed, and the hour hand has a heart-shaped tip, a nod to London’s Big Ben. As the origins of Speake Marin lie in the United Kingdom.
The Speake Marin Ripples Skeleton has a power reserve of 52 hours
The movement of the Speake Marin Ripples Skeleton is the automatic Speake Marin caliber SMA07. It has a rhodium plated and skeletonized main plate with vertical satin finish, and it has beveled and micro-beaded profiles and polished angles. The movement beats at 36,000 vph and it’s only 3.25 millimeters thick. The power reserve is 52 hours, helped by an integrated Tungsten micro-rotor.
This new Ripples comes on a three-row integrated polished and brushed steel bracelet with steel folding buckle. The price tag is around 27 to 35k without taxes. Which is a serious price for a steel skeleton with in-house movement.
