A new model, in three versions, this is the Stowa Flieger Olympic in bronze, silver and gold. Which is a nod to the medals one can win at the Olympic Games that will start on Friday the 26th of July 2024. The bronze and gold versions of this pilot are 41 millimeters, the silver version is 42 millimeters (and a bit thicker).
The CuSn8 bronze case (copper mixed with 8% of tin) is glass bead blasted for a matt and soft vintage effect. Then the silver case is also glass bead blasted and rhodium-plated for more durability and corrosion resistance. Lastly the gold case is polished. Its black dial has a Baumuster A design, just read the article about the Stowa Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B to find out where it comes from. It is a clear and therefor easy to read dial, here with hands with old radium super-luminova.
The Stowa Flieger Olympic in bronze, silver and gold has a power reserve of 46 hours
This Olympic runs on the Stowa caliber M1, which is an adjusted ETA/Unitas caliber 6498-1. That one normally has small seconds, the Stowa M1 is converted to central seconds, so one extra jewel was needed. Furthermore, Stowa redesigned the bridges and decorated the movement, for instance with a sunburst pattern on the crown wheel and ratchet wheel, blued screws and gold engravings. The power reserve of this hand-wound movement with a stop-seconds mechanism is about 46 hours.
The Stowa Flieger Olympic in bronze, silver and gold comes on a vintage leather strap. You can choose between black, grey or brown and it is closed with a pin buckle. The models are limited to 18 (bronze), 9 (silver) or 3 (gold) pieces.
