The Stowa Flieger Verus GMT Chrono Black Forest Limited is a perfect black tool watch, as it offers a chronograph and GMT function. And it can handle some splashes of water as well. The layout of the dial is lightly based on the Baumuster A design – which we explain a bit here.

The 41-millimeter case and slanted bezel are coated with black DLC, the dial is matt black with very clear markers. All in white, just like the hour and minute hands. The central chronograph seconds hand is orange, the black GMT hand kind of “floats” and has a white triangle tip with orange outline. The numerals, orientation triangle at 12 and hour and minute hands plus GMT tip have super-luminova.

This Flieger houses the ETA/Valjoux caliber 7754, which is based on the popular ETA/Valjoux caliber 7750, with the addition of a 24-hours hand for tracking a second time zone. It seems that this movement is phased out since February 2020 but there are still (stocks with) new ones on the market.

With this watch, the movement is slightly adjusted to get the date at 6 and the small seconds at the rather unusual 12 o’clock location. The Stowa Flieger Verus GMT Chrono Black Forest Limited comes on a black leather strap with a black DLC coated steel pin buckle.
