The TAG Heuer Formula 1 | Kith is the result of a fan that collected Formula 1 TAG’s and who now has its own lifestyle brand. His name is Ronnie Fieg and he is an American footwear and clothing designer, entrepreneur and more, with his own brand called “Kith”. Now, Kith and TAG Heuer have put their hands together to create a range of colorful Formula 1 models.
Looking at ten different models, and a box to store them all, and the fact that each of these models is limited, made us think about… the Moonswatch. That model is plastic, cheap, quartz and mostly colorful, and a kind of funny re-interpretation of an iconic model. This TAG Heuer is also a re-interpretation of the original. However, the 35-millimeter bold plastic or steel watch looks to be made by Fisher-Price (no offence to them). Which is kind of doable because it is like the original. But now with a price of 1,500 euros or dollars for a watch that roughly costs about a 100 to make. Perhaps TAG is hoping for a Moonswatch-hype…
The Original TAG Heuer Formula 1
The original was made from 1986 to 1990. That model has a 35-millimeter sandblasted steel or fiberglass case, and it was the first model to be branded as a TAG Heuer. According to the brand over three million copies were sold. We’re sure this new one with unspecified quartz movement won’t reach that figure. As all ten are limited editions. For real.
Anyway, the original Formula 1 versions that were brightly colored should live on with this new TAG Heuer Formula 1 | Kith. So, the size of the new one matches the size of the original, which is kind of cool. The colors kind of do so as well. Here you go when it comes to the reference numbers and the colors.

Whatever you think about this quite period correct revival of the original Formula 1, TAG Heuer shows guts. Guts to make it 35 millimeters. Guts to stay close to the original materials. And guts to ask an absurd price for a watch like this.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 | Kith comes either on a five-row steel bracelet or rubber strap. And if you want them all, and a nice collector’s box for all ten of them, look out for the CHF 18,000 costing set that’s limited to 75 units.
