The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Las Vegas Edition is the watch Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen is going to wear this coming weekend. TAG Heuer is one of the sponsors of the Red Bull Formula 1 racing team, and Verstappen can become World Champion F1 this weekend. If he beats Lando Norris during the upcoming Las Vegas race, that is. Which would make Verstappen a fourth-time World Champion in the Formula 1. By the way, Norris might wear the new Richard Mille RM 65-01 Automatic Split-Seconds Chronograph McLaren W1 this weekend.

For this special occasion, TAG Heuer introduces a new version of its Monaco Chronograph, now blending the “vibrant energy” of Las Vegas with the timepiece’s storied heritage. This bold release encapsulates the brand’s innovative spirit while paying homage to its long-standing association with motorsport. For only this year alone, the brand created several new versions of the Monaco.

The Monaco Collection: A Legacy of Innovation

The TAG Heuer Monaco collection first debuted in 1969, becoming a cornerstone of TAG Heuer’s lineup. It gained instant recognition for its square case and left-side crown. Its iconic blue dial and its debut in the film Le Mans on Steve McQueen’s wrist further solidified its significance.

Over the decades, the Monaco series has embraced technical advancements while maintaining its core connection to motorsport and daring design. For this, the following Monaco’s were already released this year:

Case and Dial: Bold Design Meets Modern Aesthetics

This version of the Monaco Chronograph comes in a 39-millimeter black DLC-coated titanium case. Its bold design includes a domed sapphire crystal and a skeletonized black and pink dial that reflects Las Vegas’s vivid energy.

The chronograph features two sub dials: a pink opaline 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and an hour counter at 9 o’clock. The small second indicator is at 6 o’clock, floating above the date window. The hour and minute hands and indexes are treated with super-luminova that light up in light blue. For a dynamic contrast, the chronograph hands and sub dials stand out in pink.

Key Features of the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Las Vegas Edition

  • Titanium case
  • Skeletonized black and pink dial with vibrant accents
  • TAG Heuer caliber Heuer 02 movement
  • Exhibition case back

Movement of the Las Vegas Monaco Chronograph

At the heart of this TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Las Vegas Edition is the in-house TAG Heuer caliber Heuer 02. An automatic movement with column-wheel chronograph offering a power reserve of 80 hours. Visible through the skeletonized dial and the case back, the movement showcases TAG Heuer’s high tech for the wearer.

This Monaco Chronograph features a strap crafted from a combination of embossed black calfskin and rubber. This pairing balances the elegance of leather with the ruggedness of rubber, making it versatile for both formal and active settings. The strap secures with a black DLC-coated titanium folding clasp that uses a double safety pushbutton mechanism for added security.

Price of the TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Las Vegas Edition

The TAG Heuer Monaco Chronograph Las Vegas Edition is priced at 10 to just over 11k. Comparable models from Zenith or Omega offer similar chronograph capabilities for around the same price. Of course, the Monaco stands out for its design and racing heritage, these alternatives provide different stylistic and technical options with other interesting heritage aspects.

Some would say, another Monaco again? With four new models only this year, they are right. However, the choice in colors and background connections with events, counties, or otherwise gives TAG’s Monaco enthusiasts way more options to pick their favorite style. Although nothing beats the original TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 11 from 1969 of course.
