The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time Ref. 5269R is now available without gems, still in a subtle size and still with a quartz movement
collection Patek Philippe Aquanaut
The Patek Philippe Aquanaut collection, launched in 1997, introduced a modern and casual sports watch to the brand’s line-up. It was designed to appeal to a younger audience with a fresh, contemporary look. More than the Patek Philippe Nautilus. The Aquanaut’s rounded octagonal case drew inspiration from this Nautilus, but it stood out with its more streamlined design.
.
The first Aquanaut, reference 5060A, featured a 36-millimeter steel case and a distinctive “tropical” rubber strap. This strap was resistant to water, salt, and UV exposure, making it highly practical. Inside, this Aquanaut houses the automatic caliber 330 SC, offering a 48-hour power reserve.
.
In 2007, Patek Philippe introduced the larger Aquanaut 5167A, which increased the case size to 40 millimeters. This model also featured an updated dial design with a grid-like texture, enhancing its sporty appeal. Its sapphire crystal case back revealed the in-house caliber 324 SC movement.
.
The Aquanaut collection expanded to include complications such as a chronograph, seen in the reference 5968A, which debuted in 2018. The Aquanaut remains a favorite among collectors for its blend of functionality and design. With its rubber strap and versatile aesthetic, it offers a distinct option in the world of luxury sports watches. Here you can read more about the history of Patek Philippe.
