Regatta timer
A regatta timer is (mechanical) countdown timer used for boat races in order to start on a certain exact time. You can see it as a time-to-target mechanism. In most cases is is operated with an extra pusher that can set a certain time you want to measure before starting something. You set a second chronograph hand, the one-minute hand, in one-minute steps, each push is one step.
.
When the timing needs te start, you can start the chronograph and the (central) chronograph minute hand will do its countdown.
