.
First generation of the Sellita SW300
.
The first generation is launched in 2004 as an alternative to the ETA 2892-A2. The SW300 shares a similar architecture and is designed to be a high-quality, reliable option for the ETA. As ETA began to limit the availability of its movements to external companies at the time.
.
Sellita caliber SW300 (base ETA caliber 2892-A2) | Automatic | Diameter: 25.6 mm (11½ lignes) | Thickness: 3.6 mm | Frequency: 28,800 vph (4 Hz) | Jewels: 25 | Stop-second device | Hours, minutes, seconds | Power reserve: 42 hours
.
Second generation, the Sellita SW300-1
.
The second generation (updated 1st gen) is launched in 2011. The goal was to improve the overal performance and quality, with more power reserve and more durability.
.
The base of the SW300 remains the same, but where possible Sellita changed parts. The size is also kept the same, as well as the architecture. And all still very near the ETA that is cloned.
.
Sellita SW300 vs Sellita SW300-1
.
The primary difference between the SW300 and the SW300-1 involves some technical refinements for better compatibility with certain applications. Including a few adjustments in gear train design.
.
Other improvments are the mainspring, the automatic winding system and shock resistance with better jewels, balance wheel, and escapement. But the fundamental architecture remains the same, and a lot of parts are interchangable.

Is the Sellita SW300 a good movement?
.
The Sellita SW300 is generally considered a high-quality movement, especially for watches in the mid-tier luxury segment. The SW300 is almost identical to the ETA 2892-A2, which has a long-standing reputation for being precise, reliable, and robust. This design lineage ensures that the SW300 benefits from years of refinement and real-world testing.
.
Since it’s based on the ETA 2892, the SW300 is familiar to many watchmakers, making it easy to service and find replacement parts for. A plus for long-term ownership. The price for a Sellita SW300 starts around 300 dollars or euros for the basic models.
