Tissot is known for its friendly priced quality watches. Some of them with a rather exuberant design and some of them quite conservative. This new Tissot Ballade Powermatic 80 belongs to the conservative category, in fact it is almost a copy of the Tissot T-Classic Chemin des Tourelles Powermatic 80. Is the Chemin des Tourelles such a hard-seller that it is commercially wise to stay close to that one? We don’t know, but let’s take a closer look at the watch.

The Tissot Ballade Powermatic 80 belongs to Tissots T-Classic collection and is available with a case size of 39 to 41 millimeters. Which does not mean there are two versions, but the shape is not perfectly round. So, the average diameter of the model is 40 millimeters. For men. There is also a smaller version for women.

The Tissot Ballade Powermatic 80 is undoubtedly value for money

The dial is enriched with a Clous de Paris hobnail pattern we know from other models (like the Chemin des Tourelles). However, the Tissot Ballade Powermatic 80 has this pattern on the bezel as well. Which looks good; sporty and classic at the same time.

Inside is the ETA C07.111 base Powermatic 80.811 caliber featuring hours, minutes, seconds and date. Due to the lower frequency (3 Hz) the movement is energy-friendly resulting in an 80-hour power-reserve. The movement has a silicon balance-spring which is non-magnetic to provide greater stability and resistance. That translates into improved precision and longevity. And it is certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres, the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute. A proof of quality and accuracy.

The quality and the price are really great; for less than a thousand you buy a Swiss COSC automatic. We can’t wait to see more models like this in the near future.
