Creating the Tissot T-Classic Chemin des Tourelles Powermatic 80 the watch brand, which is part of the Swatch group, aimed at catering at everyone’s needs and taste. The different models offer a variety in case, dial and strap or bracelet options for both men and women. The watches all share the same movement: the Powermatic 80.111 (based on the ETA caliber C07.111).
The automatic movement has a 80 hour power-reserve. This is realised by reducing the balance frequency from 4 to 3 Hertz. The balance has no regulator and it’s the factory that sets the rate. No adjustment necessary. If the watch needs adjustment there are two screws on the balance to do so. The rather round dial measures 42 millimetres and has a stainless steel case. The watch is up to 50 metres water-resistant.
The Tissot T-Classic Chemin des Tourelles Powermatic 80 reffers to the street of Tissot’s factory
Despite being different in appearance the watch shares the same brand identity. Chemin des Tourelles refers to the name of the street in the Swiss place Le Locle. The place where the Tissot factory was founded in 1907 and where the company still is located today.
From early on Tissot has had a strong connection with sports creating special chronographs that were used at sports events. But it’s probably the finish line from which you recognize the white Swiss cross that is part of the Tissot logo. It was in 1938 that Tissot entered the realm of timing in skiing, water sports and racing. To date Tissot is the official timekeeper and partner of among others MotoGP, NBA (look at the Tissot Quickster NBA Teams Special Edition), RBS 6 Nations Rugby and UCI World Championships.
