This is a diver with chronograph, the Tudor Black Bay Chrono Blue, a proper model in the Black Bay series. A follow up of the 2024 Tudor Black Bay Chrono Pink that was hyped for a while. No matter what color you want, it’s a rock solid COSC certified watch in a 41-millimeter size. Large, but not too big for most of us.

But there is a little drawback when you have a chronograph with which you can dive. The screw-down pushers. It means that you have to unscrew three parts (including the crown) every time you want to operate the chronograph function. It’s great your movement is protected against water (and dust and sand and more). But in real life it means you will never use it, or you leave the pushers unscrewed. Which is not a good idea.

Sun-brushed blue dial

The domed dial has a classic bi-compax layout with the date at the 6 o’clock position. It’s executed in satin sun-brushed blue with silver circular sub dials. One at 9 for the small seconds, and one at 3 for a 45-minute counter. Two subtle details are red: the water resistance indication and the tip of the central chronograph seconds hand.

The stainless steel bezel has a blue anodized aluminium insert with a silver tachymeter scale, providing the watch a vintage touch. Especially with the snowflake hands, here rhodium-plated with white super-luminova. Same for the hour dots and the traditional 12-hour triangle.

The Tudor Black Bay Chrono Blue has a power reserve of 70 hours

The movement of the Tudor Black Bay Chrono Blue is the Tudor caliber MT5813, an automatic with 72 hours of power reserve. It has an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring and a variable inertia balance.

This blue Black Bay comes on a 5-link stainless steel bracelet with steel folding clasp. Which can be adjusted without tools. The watch is a so called boutique edition, so you cannot order it online or at your local watch dealer. Unless it’s a Tudor boutique…
