The Tudor Pelagos FXD 2023 is the latest member of the Pelagos collection that was originally launched in 2012. Now, nine years later, it has evolved into the Pelagos FXD diver. FXD, which kind of means, tough FiXeD strap bars attached to the case. A design inspired by Tudor’s Milsub watches, the early Military Submariners by the brand.
The design of this Pelagos FXD specifically comes from a late 1960s Tudor Oyster Prince Submariner reference 7016. Yes, Tudor’s and Rolex models just had almost the same names at the time. And the same designs. The original has a stainless steel case, this new Pelagos has a 42-millimeter titanium case. And it is more or less the same as the earlier Pelagos FXD version in blue.
It has the fixed strap bars, which are directly attached to the case for more strongness. And it features a unidirectional rotating bezel in ceramic, filled with luminescent material. It meets the ISO standard 6425:2018 for diver’s watches, so it can really go down to 200 meters when diving. The dial is black with square hour markers and snowflake hands, just like most ref. 7016’s from 1969 onwards.
The Tudor Pelagos FXD 2023 has a power reserve of 70 hours
The Tudor caliber MT5602 that powers this Pelagos FXD 2023 is COSC certified and delivers a power reserve of 70 hours. It has an open-worked tungsten monobloc rotor and satin-brushed with sand-blasted details. The bridges and main plate are also sand-blasted and have polished surfaces and laser decorations. However, the case back is steel, so you cannot admired this part of the watch.
This diver comes on a forest green with red central thread fabric strap. And it has a self-gripping fastening system, plus an additional black rubber strap with woven motif. The pin buckle is from titanium.
