Tudor extends its collection of Pelagos models with a new model for left-handed divers. The Tudor Pelagos LHD features a winding stem positioned to the left of the case, so that left-handed divers can wear the watch on the right wrist. It is called “destro”, which is Italian for “right” or “right-hand”. So destro watches are the ones that can be worn on the right wrist. Although it might look easy to release such a model, it isn’t.

You could say: turn the regular watch 180 degrees, remove the bracelet and attach it the other way around, and there you go. The winding stem is on the left and the bracelet is in the correct position. So, the only thing that needs to be done is turn the dial 180 degrees. Well, and mirror the date disc. But then, setting the time and date, and winding the automatic movement would work the other way around. And that’s not what quality brands like Tudor have in mind.

Although the Tudor Pelagos LHD is numbered it is not a limited edition

Instead Tudor adjusts an existing movement, the caliber MT5612-LHD. Which is a kind of a mirrored in-house caliber MT5612 that can be found in the regular Pelagos models since 2015, when Tudor released the new Pelagos series. The MT5612 provides 70 hours of power-reserve and the LHD is also chronometer certified by COSC.

There are a few changes to the regular titanium-cased model: new beige colored luminescent material on the hands, indices, and ceramic bezel for instance. The model name Pelagos on the dial is in red now, and the date wheel has red numbers for all even numbered days and black for odd numbered. Characteristics like the helium escape valve, water-resistance (500 meters, 1,640 ft)) and size and shape remain the same.

Each watch is numbered on the case back, although it is not a limited edition. So, if your lucky number is 741, call Tudor and make your reservation now.
