Size: 47.55 x 49.57 mm mm
Reference: EMC SR-71 – limited to 10 pieces
The Urwerk EMC SR-71 has a piece of fuselage from the famous and retired Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird. It is a long-range, high-altitude, strategic reconnaissance aircraft that could reach speeds above Mach 3 which looks like a black, flat rocket with wings.
Its unusual shapes, its extreme performance and its sinister dark looks forms the inspiration for the EMC SR-71. Although the first EMC model released in 2014 has the same looks and the same movement. And in 2016 the brand released a transparent version with the Urwerk EMC TimeHunter X-Ray. But all not with this fuselage piece.
Electro Mechanical Control
This EMC (Electro Mechanical Control) still looks modern with cool analogue cockpit styled instruments. At the bottom the hours and minutes, on top of that the running seconds. Left from the seconds is a performance indicator as the wearer can adjust the precision (or performance) of this watch with a screw at the back.
The EMC’s monitoring unit is powered by a micro-generator from Maxon, a Swiss company known for developing motors for NASA’s Mars rovers. When you activate the performance indicator an optical sensor on the balance wheel measures the rate of oscillation of the regulator for 3 seconds. And then display the result so the owner can see if his watch still keeps the time. The system winded with a special handle on the side of the case.
The Urwerk EMC SR-71 has a power reserve of 80 hours
Inside the Urwerk EMC SR-71 is the Urwerk caliber UR-EMC, a hand-wound mechanical movement with a power reserve of 80 hours. Thanks to two vertically mounted mainspring barrels, connected in series. The movement has Côtes de Genève, snailing, micro bead-blasting, and chamfered screw heads. And it can be seen through the sapphire case back.
The model comes on an olive nylon/leather strap inspired by aeronautical safety straps and Velcro fastening.
