The Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Minute Repeater Tourbillon – Tribute to Art Deco style is one of the Les Cabinotiers – Récits de Voyage collection. Aside from the also recently released Les Cabinotiers Armillary tourbillon, this Les Cabinotiers Minute Repeater Tourbillon is also a tribute to art deco style. And like all Récits de Voyage models it is a unique piece.

This Art Deco also relates to the United States where VC is active since 1832. We already saw art deco influences with the engraved New York skyscraper style at the back of the case of the Les Cabinotiers Armillary tourbillon timepiece. This Repeater Tourbillon has reflections of the art deco style on the dial.

The dial is partly made of wood

It is housed in a pink gold case of 44 millimeters, with a thickness of 13.50 millimeters. The dial features a unique construction with the use of wood marquetry, a method influenced by cloisonné enameling. It has two “floors”, and the upper part displays a theme of interior decorations typical of the art deco period. To create this a master artisan needs to cut 110 small wood veneers. Then it is deep-staining and polishing the pearwood and tulipwood to achieve the appropriate tone of black and blue, which takes a full month to finish.

The outer ring of the dial shows a ‘pearl’ minutes track, accented by 11 facetted diamond hour-markers that become progressively slimmer as they approach 12 o’clock. The case, lugs and bezel are engraved with a herringbone motif. The end result has influences of the legendary Chrysler building with its gleaming spire showing a combination of steel (gold here) and wood.

The hand-wound Vacheron Constantin caliber 2755 TMR drives the Les Cabinotiers Minute Repeater Tourbillon. It is equipped with a minute repeater and a tourbillon visible on the dial at 6 o’clock. It also has a power reserve indicator which you find at the transparent sapphire case back. It beats at a frequency of 18,000 vph and has a power reserve of 58 hours.

The Vacheron Constantin Les Cabinotiers Minute Repeater Tourbillon – Tribute to Art Deco style comes on a blue alligator leather strap. It is secured with an 18K 5N hand-engraved pink gold folding clasp with geometrical motifs.
