Zenith gives the Pilot series a completely new design and starts off with this Zenith Pilot Automatic. It comes in two versions: one in stainless steel and one in black ceramic. Clear, basic looks, with a rather serious price. But both bare a renewed El Primero movement.
The new Pilot Automatic measures 40 millimeters and these new versions have a deep black dial with horizontal grooves. A fine contrast with the white hands, markers and numerals. As it is a pilot’s watch it comes with a big crown for easy winding when wearing gloves. Although winding isn’t really necessary with a power reserve of 60 hours.

Both new Zenith Pilot Automatics come with two straps
The power reserve comes from the El Primero 3620 SC movement – in line with most Zenith movements it’s a high beating caliber. It supports hours, minutes, central seconds, and date.
These Zenith Pilot Automatics come with two straps: a black rubber one with cordura effect plus a brown calfskin leather one for the steel version. The ceramic version also has a black rubber strap with cordura effect and a khaki cordura strap.
Apparently, the materials for the black ceramic version are more expensive, as this version is about 25 percent more expensive.
